What is mediumship? The word "medium" means something that lies in the middle, or between other things, a conduit through which something is conveyed. In the religion of Spiritualism a "medium" is someone who acts as the channel of communication between those who are in spirit (usually a loved one who has died) and human beings that are still in the flesh.
Psychic vs. medium?People sometimes confuse psychics and mediums. What is the difference? To put it simply, mediums talk to dead people to obtain the information that they give in a reading. Psychics read or sense the energy around a person or item to get their information. Generally, all mediums are also psychic, while not all psychics are mediums.
So what is the difference between a psychic reading and a mediumistic reading? Well if you want to make contact with a deceased loved one you would look for a reading from a medium. Keep in mind that most of the information that the medium will give you will be based on what your loved one tells the medium. So if you are looking for advice about the stock market for example, and you are talking to your deceased uncle Joe who knew nothing about the stock market, the advice you get is probably not going to be very good. He might mean well, but dying does not instantly make someone any smarter than they were in life. They often seem to have a longer or clearer view of issues than they did while alive, but they don?t suddenly become authorities on everything. On the other hand, if your uncle was a great mechanic, he might have some very useful advice regarding the maintenance of your car.
Psychics, on the other hand, do not talk to dead people. Instead they sense the energy around a person. So, if you want to know about your love life, the psychic can check to see if the energy around you feels positive or negative, and they can probably get a sense of what has happened to you lately in the romance department, and what is going to happen in the near future. They aren't, however, going to be able to get your deceased grandmother's opinion regarding your new boyfriend.
People usually go to psychics because they want to know what the future holds for them in the following five areas: 1) Money or job issues. 2) Love issues (is the person I am dating the right one for me, or when will I find the right partner, is my partner cheating on me, etc.). 3) Children issues (how many children am I going to have, is my teenager going to turn out alright). 4) Health issues (this is a tricky area because psychics are not allowed to diagnose or recommend treatment). 5) Honesty issues (is my business partner cheating me).
People usually go to mediums because they are grieving, they have unresolved issues with deceased loved ones, or they are looking for evidence that life goes on after death. However, as I pointed out, because mediums are also psychic, they are also able to give you some advice about the five areas I mentioned in the previous paragraph.
Mediumship is not dangerous. From my own experiences, and those of the many mediums that I know well, I can say with absolute conviction that there is nothing dangerous in mediumship.
I do not believe in "curses." A legitimate medium will never tell you that someone has placed a curse on you, and require money from you to remove the "curse," and will never suggest that you need to buy something for protection. In fact, I strongly recommend that you avoid anyone who tells you anything like this.
Can a medium guarantee that you will be able to contact a particular loved one? No, the medium has no control over which of your spirit loved ones will be available to come through, so there is no way to guarantee that you will be able to connect with the person that you are hoping to hear from. It usually happens, but not always, sometimes the connection just isn't clear, other times it might be that the person in spirit is busy, I don't really know why it doesn't always work.
