I had the opportunity to attend a 2 day workshop in Lily Dale, NY with one of Lily Dale’s registered mediums Rev. Patricia Price.
For many years now Patricia has been one of my mentors and I attend as many of her classes as I possibly can. As with all of Patricia’s classes this one was wonderful.
One of the things that she taught us in this class has really stuck in my mind. She taught us the concept of “NOMBAY” which stands for it’s NONE OF MY BUSINESS ANYWAY.
What she means by that is that we cannot control, and should not be concerned with, the opinions other people have about us. What they think about us is not our concern. It is our business to do the best we can to lead an ethical life, to treat others with kindness, and to follow our own path, but regardless of how well we achieve these goals some people will just not be happy with us. There will always be people who don’t like us. This is difficult for me. Like anyone else, I really want people to like me. However, this isn’t always possible.
Over the years I have run into some people who really don’t like me. Some people don’t like me because of a particular incident, but others don’t like me for no apparent reason. Perhaps I just rub them the wrong way because I remind them of someone from their past. Or perhaps they just think I'm odd. Who knows why? The thing I have to remind myself is that as long as my behavior toward them is ethical and kind, I have done my part.
